WHAT WILL MATTER

BOOKING YOUR CEREMONY

Once you've chosen the date for your wedding or civil union ceremony, it is important to contact me as soon as possible to determine my availability.  I will need to know the following:

  • Date of the wedding or civil union ceremony
  • Place where ceremony is to take place
  • Time of ceremony
  • First names (formal or informal) of the parties as they wish to be referred to in their ceremony
  • Contact phone numbers and e-mail addresses of both parties
  • Whether or not the bride will be taking the groom's last name (a personal decision not required by law)
  • Whether or not either party has any objection to the reference to God in their ceremony
  • Whether a blessing on the marriage is to be included
  • Whether it will be a single ring (meaning only 1 is given a ring) or double-ring ceremony (where each receives a ring) and the metal content of the ring(s)
  • Whether the parties wish to exchange custom, traditional or a combination of vows
  • Whether the parties wish to include any readings by others
  • Favorite colors of the bride and groom for the sand ceremony, if so desired
Note:  A sand ceremony is a symbolic ritual, combining 2 seperate vials of sand (one representing the man, one the woman) into a 3rd heart-shaped vessel, to illustrate the joining of two in marriage.  All materials for this are provided by the officiant.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Due to the fact that I maintain a strict schedule and have encountered an increasing number of brides and grooms who believe a late arrival to be "fashionable," I am forced to institute the following policy:  I will not wait longer than 1/2-hour after the scheduled time to perform any ceremony.  If the scheduled ceremony does not start within that time period, I will be compelled to leave without performing the ceremony and all fees will be forfeited.

CONFIRMATION:
In order to eliminate any possibility of confusion or "mixed signals" it is imperative that all weddings and civil union ceremonies be confirmed 48 hours prior to the date and time scheduled.  Such confirmation serves not only to alleviate some of the premaritial jitters often felt by the participants, but also serves to confirm any last-minute changes to the ceremony.
